The sun’s rays gently crept into the room, as if painting an enchanting picture on their faces, caressing the tranquility of the moment with a touch of morning warmth. Karma woke up to a strange feeling, a feeling of peace filling her heart. Qasim’s masculine scent, which she adored, surrounded her as if it were part of the air she breathed.
A small smile spread across her face as she felt his arms encircle her with a tender, possessive tenderness. His heart beats close to her ear, with a steady rhythm that sounds like a special melody that only she can hear. She slowly raised her eyes to look at him. His calm features, even in sleep, had had something of their usual solidity, but now they looked more like those of a knight who has taken off his armor and rested his heart beside her.
She closed her eyes for a moment, as if capturing this moment to treasure forever. But the warmth of her affection overcame her shyness; She raised her hand slowly, as if she was approaching something sacred, and began to rub her fingers along the lines of his face with a light touch, as if she was afraid of waking him up. She memorized his details as if she were engraving them in her heart, from the sharpness of his eyebrows to the softness of his cheeks.
A small smile escaped her as she approached, and she dared to kiss him lightly on the cheek, as if to tell him, “I’m here…always here.” But suddenly, she felt her face heat up, as if her heart was blaming her for her boldness. She quickly withdrew her hand and looked away shyly, not believing that she had dared to do so.
But the sound of knocking on the door interrupted her thoughts. She opened her eyes and widened when the nurse entered.
The nurse had a slight smile, but she couldn’t hide her admiration for the person sleeping next to Karma. Karma felt a twinge in her heart, as if the woman’s gaze represented an assault on something that belonged to her alone. She did not know when feelings of jealousy flared up inside her, but she found herself looking at Qasim quickly, and her eyes stopped at his bare chest.
Unconsciously, she grabbed the cover and pulled it over with a quick movement, as if putting an unspoken limit on anything the nurse could see. She looked at her, a sharp, confident look in her eyes.
The nurse with a confused smile: “I was just checking on you because you needed something…”
Karma said in a muffled tone: “Thank you. If I need anything, I will call you.”
She did not wait for an answer, but continued with her sharp gaze until the nurse came out and closed the door behind her.
She took a deep breath, then looked at Cassim again. Her eyes softened, and a slight smile crept onto her lips. Despite everything, she felt reassured just by his presence next to her.
Outside, behind the glass window, Ahmed was standing leaning against the wall, watching the scene with a smile mixed with different emotions. His eyes shine with contentment and tranquility, as if he saw a dream come true before him without uttering it. His daughter, whom he has always considered a piece of his soul, finds her security and happiness in Qasim’s care.
But what caught his attention more were the looks of jealousy that Karma couldn’t hide. A light laugh escaped him, as he muttered in a barely audible voice: “My daughter is crazy… her heart has exposed her.”
While he was immersed in his thoughts, Selim suddenly appeared next to him, placing his hand on his father’s shoulder: “Why are you watching them from afar, Dad? Are you afraid we will upset them or what?”
Ahmed with a calm smile: “No, my son, I am not afraid, but I would like to see her well.” Qasim… treats her as if she were the whole world to him, and that is enough for me.”
Salim raised his eyebrows curiously: “Qasim? You mean the man who couldn’t bear to show any feelings all his life? What happened to make it turn like this?”
Ahmed, laughing: “This girl, Selim… came upon him like a storm. I made him see something he had never seen before. Love, my son, changes even the hardest of hearts.”
Selim with a sideways smile: “It is clear that they like each other very much.” But her brain’s karma is so dry, it’s impossible for her to confess easily.”
Ahmed: “And here Qasim remained smart. He will know how to make her talk without feeling.”
Salim sighed: “May God make them happy, Dad.” The important thing is that I wanted to ask your permission. He kept you at home and I will go check on her.”
Ahmed looked at him with satisfaction: “Go, Selim, the girl needs to rest for a while.” Before she goes, reassure her that her sister is fine and that we are all around her.”
Selim with a reassuring smile: “Sure, dad.” Then he left with confident steps, leaving Ahmed to return to his contemplative gaze towards the room, with an affectionate smile still adorning his face.
After Salim left, Ahmed decided to get closer. He gently pushed the door open and tiptoed into the room, avoiding making any sound that might wake Qasim, who was clearly extremely tired.
Ahmed stood for a moment, observing the scene before him: Qasim was lying next to Karma, his head close to her shoulder, his hand still around her protectively and possessively. As for Karma, she was awake, her eyes holding a mixture of love, gratitude, and shame.
Ahmed smiled as he slowly approached, gently placing his hand on Karma’s head, and leaning down to whisper in a low voice: “How are you, my daughter?” What are you doing now?
Karma with a shy smile: “Praise be to God, Dad… much better.”
Ahmed sat on the chair near the bed, watching her with eyes full of tenderness: “I was standing outside and saw you… I found you sitting here in the midst of safety and comfort. “I never imagined the day I would see you find someone who would reassure you in this way.”
Karma looked at Qasim with affection, then looked back at her father: “Qasim is different, dad. I feel like he cares about me more than me… He fears for me in a way that no one in the world has done.”
Ahmed with a satisfied smile: “I know, Karma. This is what made me agree without hesitation when Qasim insisted that he be by your side. I see love and fear for you in his eyes, even when he tries to hide them.”
Karma blushed, lowering her eyes: “Daddy…”
Ahmed: “Don’t be ashamed of me, my daughter. I am your father and the person who knows you best. Love is not weakness, karma. On the contrary, love is what strengthens us.”
Karma said in a low voice: “But I’m afraid, Dad… I’m afraid I’ll be a burden on him.”
Ahmed, as he extended his hand to hold her hand tenderly: “Karma, Qasim will never leave you, not because he is forced, but because he chose himself. And if you were a burden, as you say, you wouldn’t see him beside you right now, sleeping while holding you as if he was afraid to leave you even for a moment.”
Karma looked at Qasim for a long moment, then returned her gaze to Ahmed and smiled shyly: “Thank you, Baba… for everything.”
Ahmed, gently patting her hand: “There is no thanks between us, my daughter.” The important thing now is that you relax your heart and mind. “I will also let Qasim take some rest, as it is clear that he is completely exhausted.”
Karma with a warm smile: “Yes, Dad.”
Ahmed got up quietly, looked one last time at Qasim and Karma with a small smile, then left the room, leaving the angel with her guard who never abandoned her.
Three hours later, Qasim slowly woke up from his sleep. He opened his eyes to find himself in the same position he was in when he slept. His hands were still protectively surrounding Karma, and his head was lying next to her neck. He moved carefully to sit.
Despite the obvious fatigue on his face, Karma’s eyes were shyly watching his every move. She smiled gently when she noticed that he had woken up, and she felt a strange sense of reassurance at seeing him awake next to her.
Qasim, raising his head slightly to try to organize his thoughts, looked at her with concern and said in a weak voice: “What are you doing now?”
Karma smiled tenderly, then said in a reassuring tone: “I am fine, Qasim… Thank God. But you look a little tired
Qasim looked at her with tenderness and surrounded her face with love and said: “You are definitely good at feeling any pain.”
Karma sighed gently, then said: “Don’t worry about me, I’m fine, thanks to God.” But you don’t see yourself? “You want to rest more.”
She said this as she ran her hand over his arm tenderly
Qasim smiled slightly, then whispered: “I am fine as long as you are.”
But he felt something strange in his heart, something bigger than just caring for her. There was something new, something deep, connecting him more and more to her.
Karma responded with a warm smile, trying to hide what was going on in her heart, but she was feeling something that she could not explain. Does he love her..?
At this moment, Dada entered the room cautiously, then looked at them with a relaxed smile, carrying some clothes.
“What’s the news, what are you doing, lady of girls?” Do what, Qasim, my son.”
Qasim smiled at her gently as he tried to sit more upright: “Thank God, they are fine, but I definitely need to change my clothes.”
Dada put the clothes on the table and said: “Okay, I brought you new things.” “You will change and rest a little.” Then she added in a cheerful tone: “Don’t be late for your appointments, especially since you are in the hospital and not on a relaxing trip.”
Karma put her hand over her mouth in an attempt to hide her smile, while Qasim tried to appear serious but was trying to hold back his laughter.
“Yes, yes, we know, we will change now.”
Al-Dada left smiling, while Qasim looked at Karma and said: “I will get up now… but I want you to know that I will never be far from you.”
Karma felt something warm in her heart, but she remained silent….!
At that moment, everything around them was calm, and their hearts spoke in a language that only hearts could understand.
(O God, may your blessings and peace be upon our Master Muhammad and his family and companions 🌿🤎)
The days passed quietly inside the hospital corridors, and Qasim was by Karma’s side all week, taking care of her as if she were his precious treasure. She was getting better day by day, but his closeness made her heart beat in a completely different rhythm, as if his presence was part of her recovery.
On the morning of the last day in the hospital:
Qasim was standing in front of the mirror, arranging his shirt while looking at himself with a slight smile. He finished getting dressed, then turned to Karma who was sitting on the edge of the bed, wearing a simple dress that Dada had sent her especially for this day.
He approached her with confident steps, his eyes filled with something between love and reassurance, then he said as he extended his hand to her: “Come on, ladies, it’s time for us to get out of here.”
Karma, under her usual shyness, slowly extended her hand to intertwine with his, and looked at him with a small smile as she said: “Thank you, Qasim… for everything you did for my sake.”
Qasim raised his eyebrows, then said in a joking tone: “Does it seem that you intend to say thank you and close your history?”
Karma laughed lightly and said: “Of course not… but you didn’t let me know what to say!”
Qasim, bending slightly to be at her eye level, whispered to her: “Don’t say anything.” It is enough that you are good…this is the biggest reward for me.”
Karma felt her cheeks burning, and she looked away, trying to hide her confusion.
Qasim gently helped her get up, carried her small bag with his other hand, and then began to lead her towards the door of the room.
In the hospital corridor:
Everyone was saying goodbye to Karma with friendly smiles, and Qasim walked beside her like a shadow. His presence imposed an aura of protection and reassurance wherever he went.
When they got outside, the car was waiting for them. Qasim opened the door for Karma, then got in the front seat next to her.
During the way, Qasim looked at her and said: “You will take care of yourself, right?” “I don’t want to be naughty like the first.”
Karma, biting her lip shyly, replied: “I will try… but I don’t know how to promise you.”
Qasim smiled and said: “I know you, as stubborn as you are.” But this time, I will stay behind you, step by step.”
Karma looked at him in astonishment, then said faintly: “You are truly always by my side.”
Qasim held her hand for a few seconds, looked at her with eyes full of determination, then said: “And I will always remain like this… until my last breath.”
Karma felt the warmth of his words filling her heart, but she did not respond with anything but a calm smile, hiding behind it feelings greater than could be described in words.
The new day has begun, and Karma is preparing to leave the hospital, but what she does not know is that Qasim has prepared a surprise that awaits her very soon, starting with her a new phase full of events and feelings that she will never forget.
